NEW TESTING ON THE HORIZON
Last year was the final year for the Illinois Standard Achievement Testing (ISAT) tests. Reports are to be handed out at Parent/Teacher Conferences, or brought home by the students. You might notice that your child "Does Not Meet" standards this year, when previously he/she have always met standards. Two years ago, the state redefined the scoring criteria to meet standards. They "raised the bar" so to speak. When the bar was raised, some students did not meet the new cut scores. The state did this to better align the ISAT tests to the expectations for the Common Core assessment, the PARCC test. PARCC stands for Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers. We will be taking PARCC tests this year instead of ISAT tests.
